Perched at an altitude of 3,293 meters in the Garhwal Himalayas, it marks the source of the sacred Yamuna River. Built in the 19th century by Maharani Guleria of Jaipur, the temple is part of the Chota Char Dham pilgrimage circuit. Pilgrims trek through rugged terrain and scenic landscapes to reach the temple, which opens annually from May to November. A hot spring near the temple, Surya Kund, is used for ritual offerings.
